Meet Heidi

If you've ever thrown carbs in the trash and then felt compelled to dig them back out again—you are my people.
If you’ve ever canceled plans because you couldn’t stand how you felt in your body—you are not alone.
If you’ve ever considered putting a lock on your refrigerator—I see you.

My name is Heidi.
I’ve dealt with binge eating and food addiction for most of my life. I’ve tried programs, paid for plans, sat in meetings, and bought into the idea that my problem was me. That I needed to go deeper into childhood wounds. That I was too selfish. That I had limiting beliefs. That if I just had more willpower, or more emotional insight, or whatever intangible quality I was supposedly lacking, then I’d stop “turning to food.”

Eventually, I stopped asking, “What’s wrong with me?”—and started asking a better question:
“What if the problem isn’t me—but the food I’m eating?”

I credit author Annie Grace (This Naked Mind) with helping that idea finally land. She was the first person I heard say, clearly, that reacting strongly to an addictive substance doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it means the substance is doing what it does.

Realizing that food was the problem changed everything—but it wasn’t the whole answer.
I’ve found that abstaining from foods that harm me is essential—but it’s not enough on its own.
I’ve also had to learn to accept discomfort, stop fighting reality, take care of my body and mind, and recognize that every decision comes with trade-offs.

For me, the process of ditching carbs hasn’t been about undergoing a complete life transformation.
It’s been about developing boundaries and self-trust, and doing what actually works for me—even when it’s hard.

I want each person struggling with food to feel supported in discovering a way of eating that doesn’t harm them—and in navigating day-to-day in a way that sustains it. Low Carb Pal isn’t about giving you a plan to follow—it’s about offering solidarity, support, and company on the road.

I'm not a coach, a doctor, or a therapist. (I do hold a keto coaching certification from Dr. Berg, 2021—but I’m not here to tell you what to eat.)

I’m someone who’s been there. I offer non-directive, lived-experience-based support for people who are trying to ditch carbs and feel more like themselves again.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

I’m here to listen, to witness, and to remind you:
You are not the problem.
